Following the match, Liverpool's dedicated journalist, Lewis Steele, revealed that this contest marked the first occasion since September 2023, when Van Dijk missed the away encounter against Wolves due to suspension, that the defender has been absent from a significant match in either the Premier League or the Champions League—those games where the team had not yet secured advancement or the title.
